Venezia vs Udinese: a two-point fight at the foot of Serie A

Venezia host Udinese at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo on Friday 6 November 2026 in round 11 of Serie A, and this is a direct fight for survival. Venezia are 20th with three points from ten games, one win and nine defeats. Udinese are 19th with five points, having won once, drawn twice and lost seven. Lazio lead the table on 28 points, so both clubs are a long way from the pack above them.

What the match decides is simple to set out. A Venezia win would lift them to six points, one clear of Udinese's five. A Udinese win would open a five-point gap, and a draw would leave the gap at two points, with Udinese on six and Venezia on four.

Our early read leans towards a tight, error-prone contest in which Udinese hold a slim edge on recent head-to-head evidence, while Venezia have home advantage and a defence that has been less porous than their rivals' over the last five games.

Venezia and Udinese recent form

Venezia's last five league games read LWLLL: one win and four defeats, with two goals scored and seven conceded. That is 0.4 goals scored and 1.4 conceded per game. They kept one clean sheet, failed to score in three games, and only one of the five went over 2.5 goals. The results were a 3-1 loss at Atalanta, a 1-0 home win over Napoli, a 1-0 defeat at Genoa, a 2-0 home loss to Inter and a 1-0 defeat at Como.

At home, Venezia's record in that run is two games, one win and one defeat, with one goal scored and two conceded. That gives 0.5 scored and 1.0 conceded per game at the Penzo, with one clean sheet. The sample is small, but it shows a team that has at least been harder to beat in front of its own supporters than away from home.

Udinese's form is worse on the defensive side. Their last five reads LLLDL: no wins, one draw and four defeats, with three goals scored and 12 conceded. That is 0.6 scored and 2.4 conceded per game. They failed to score three times, kept one clean sheet and saw three of the five games pass 2.5 goals. They lost 2-1 at Torino, 3-0 to Lecce, 2-0 to AC Milan and 5-2 to AS Roma, and the only point came from a 0-0 draw at Parma.

On the road, Udinese's two away games in that run brought one draw and one defeat, with one goal scored and two conceded. That is 0.5 scored and 1.0 conceded per game, with one clean sheet. Their three heaviest defeats all came at home, so the away numbers are less alarming than the overall run suggests.

Venezia vs Udinese team news

Venezia have three players ruled out in our data: A. Adorante with a hernia, B. Franjic with a shoulder injury and M. Sverko with a hip injury. T. Correia is doubtful with a thigh injury. Our data does not give positions, so we cannot say precisely where the gaps will be felt, but four unavailable or uncertain players is a heavy load for a squad that has scored only six league goals.

Udinese have two players out: D. Alaba with a calf injury and I. Gueye with an ankle injury. Three more are doubtful: V. Bayo with a thigh injury, O. Solet with a muscle injury and A. Zanoli with a muscle injury. If the doubts do not recover, Udinese could be without five players, which is the longer list of the two and matters for a side that has conceded 12 in its last five.

Line-ups have not been published in our data so far. Confirmed starting elevens usually arrive about an hour before kick-off, and the doubtful players named above are the ones to watch when they do. We will not guess at a formation or a starting XI until the clubs release them.

Storylines: two sides searching for a first run of results

Venezia's season has been defined by one result. Their only league win in ten games was the 1-0 home victory over Napoli on 17 October. Since then they have lost at Genoa, at home to Inter and at Como, scoring no goals in any of those three games. Nine defeats from ten leaves them bottom, and the pressure on a team that has not scored in its last three outings is plain.

Udinese arrive with a little more in the table, but the direction of travel is the same. They have one win, two draws and seven defeats, and they have lost four of their last five. The 5-2 home defeat to AS Roma on 31 October was the heaviest of the run, and it came only three days after the goalless draw at Parma, their one point in that spell.

There is also recent history. These clubs met in the Coppa Italia on 2 September 2026, and Udinese won 2-1 at home. Venezia will know that their latest meeting ended in defeat, and Udinese will know that three of their four wins in this fixture list have come when they were the home side.

What the match can change is the shape of the relegation picture. The winner leaves with real momentum and breathing space measured in a single result. The loser risks being cut adrift, given that Lazio's 28 points show how far the safe zone already is from both clubs.

Where Venezia vs Udinese will be decided

The cleanest contrast is Venezia's attack against Udinese's defence. Venezia have scored 0.4 goals per game in their last five, but Udinese have conceded 2.4 per game over the same stretch and 23 across the season. If Venezia can create even a handful of decent chances, the opposition record suggests they have a fair chance of scoring. They have, though, failed to score in three of their last five.

The other side of it favours Venezia's defence. They have conceded 1.4 per game in their last five and just 1.0 per game in their two home games, against Udinese's 0.6 scored per game. Udinese failed to score in three of their last five, so this is not a side that has been regularly punishing opponents. They did score twice against Roma, but still lost heavily.

Tempo and game state may matter more than shape. Three of Udinese's last five games passed 2.5 goals, but only one of Venezia's did, and Venezia have scored first rarely, going by their goals-for tally. An early goal for either side would test a team that has struggled to recover from conceding.

Our data does not include set-piece or expected-goals figures, so we will not claim an edge from dead-ball situations. The better indicator is availability: with up to five Udinese players in doubt or out, Venezia's home advantage and the visitors' injury list may count for more than any tactical angle.

Venezia vs Udinese head-to-head record

Udinese have the clear advantage in the five meetings in our data. They have won four, Venezia one, with no draws. The meetings have averaged 3.8 goals per game, both teams scored in four of them, and all five went over 2.5 goals.

The most recent was the Coppa Italia tie on 2 September 2026, which Udinese won 2-1 at home. Before that, Udinese won 3-2 at home in Serie A on 1 February 2025, having lost 3-2 at Venezia on 30 October 2024, which is the only Venezia win in this set. Udinese also won 2-1 at Venezia on 10 April 2022 and 3-0 at home on 27 August 2021.

The pattern is open, high-scoring football, which is very different from what the current form of both teams suggests. In this season's league table, Venezia average 0.6 goals per game and Udinese 1.1, so the old scorelines look like a poor guide to the present. The head-to-head helps most as a reminder that Udinese have solved this opponent more often than not, and that Venezia's one win came at their own ground.

Venezia vs Udinese prediction

Our lean is for a close match with a slight edge to Udinese to avoid defeat, which covers both a win and a draw. Three facts drive that. Udinese have won four of the five meetings, they have scored 11 league goals to Venezia's six, and Venezia have not scored in any of their last three games. Against that, Venezia's home record of 1.0 goals conceded per game is better than Udinese's 2.4 per game overall in the last five, and Udinese's injury list is longer.

On goals, the head-to-head points to a high total, with all five meetings going over 2.5. The current form points the other way for Venezia, whose games have rarely been open, but towards more goals for Udinese, whose last five conceded 12. We lean towards a moderate total of two or three goals rather than a goal-fest, with Udinese's defensive record the main reason it could climb higher.

What could change this read: the final team news on Correia, Bayo, Solet and Zanoli, an early goal that forces one side to chase, or a home performance that finally turns Venezia's chances into goals. This is a lean, not a certainty, and both teams have shown they can lose to almost anyone.
